On January 23rd, President Bush signed H.R. 2673, the "Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2004" into law. The news is mixed for programs that concern the language and international education community. A video library illustrating effective instruction and assessment strategies for teaching foreign languages. The language classrooms shown in this library include Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Italian, Latin, Russian, and Chinese. All classroom videos are subtitled in English and are appropriate for K–12 teachers of any foreign language. Created in conjunction with the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), it is broadcast live on KET 4 every Friday afternoon, or you can view each program online by registering for Annenberg's FREE "Video on Demand". Linda K. Dale of East Ridge H.S. in Lick Creek, Ky. has won the Ashland Teaching Award for her work in teaching both French and Art Appreciation. Linda also was the Pike County Secondary Teacher of the Year in 2003.
