Open Invitation to KWLA Winter Retreat

On Friday and Saturday, January 27-28, 2006, the Kentucky World Language Association will host its Winter Board Meeting and 2nd Annual Winter Retreat at the Villa Madonna Academy in Villa Hills, Kentucky. We are happy to invite a variety of K-16 world language teachers to represent the diverse areas of Kentucky at our retreat, as we chart the next five years for our organization. At last year's retreat, board members and regional representatives created a strategic plan that will be introduced during the 2006 Retreat. Any current member is welcomed to submit their name for consideration. Regional representatives will be selected based on the following criteria: 1) geographical location, 2) language, 3) teaching level, and 4) length of membership. The KWLA Annual Retreat Committee will select 15 representatives from all applications.

The actual retreat begins at 8am on Saturday, January 28 and runs until approximately 5pm. If you would be travelling a great distance and would like to arrive on Friday evening for our Board Meeting, KWLA will be happy to provide lodging for you at the Villa Madonna Academy. All of our meals on Saturday will be provided by KWLA board members. We look forward to having regional representation to make sure KWLA is responsive to the varied needs of its membership and hope that will consider joining us. To be considered as a regional representative, simply send a e-mail with the subject "2006 Winter Retreat" to "info@kwla-online.org". Please include the following information: (1) Name, (2) School/College/University, (3) Language, (4) How long have you been a KWLA (or KCTFL) member? (5) Briefly describe one or two ideas, on how KWLA could better serve its membership.

Regional Representatives will be chosen from all e-mails submitted by Tuesday, January 17th.
