Art Exhibition: Cinco Maestros Michoacanos

The State of Michoacán, Mexico, is home to an esteemed group of master artists. La Secretaría de Cultura of Michoacán pays tribute to the lifetime achievement and work of these renowned artists in a limited number of exhibitions in the United States. You are invited to attend a lecture: "Paris and Washington: A Tale of Two Cities" on April 15, 2004 at 4:00 PM at Speed Art Museum Auditorium The lecture is free; for more info please contact 852-2247 or janna@louisville.edu PROFESSOR YVES BOQUET University of Bourgogne (Burgundy), Dijon, France Yves Boquet is Distinguished Visiting Professor with the Department of Geography and Geosciences at the University of Louisville in Spring 2004. Currently Professor Boquet holds a position of Vice-Chair of the Geography Department at the University of Bourgogne in Dijon. Yves Boquet published numerous articles on various research topics including transportation systems (US airline deregulation, European high-speed rail), US population issues (Asian migration to the USA, decline of population in the Great Plains), as well as comparative studies of large metropolises in the world. Professor Boquet is team-teaching with Dr. Bill Dakan a course on "World Class Cities" this semester.

Summer study abroad for high school seniors

People to People International is inviting individuals to nominate students for the Eisenhower Scholars program. This program provides scholarships for students to study in places like Australia, China and South Africa. Students must be nominated and should demonstrate outstanding scholastic merit, maturity and leadership potential. The students must be seniors and their is potential through this program to earn college credit. learn more

International Education Summit to be held

The first Kentucky International Education Summit will be held Wednesday, October 22, at the Kentucky History Center in Frankfort. Scheduled speakers are Governor Paul Patton, Education Comissioner Gene Wilhoit and Tom Welch of the Kentucky Economic Cabinet. Press Release (PDF File).
