2008 KWLA Festival Announcement

With the Fall Conference behind us, it is time to start thinking about this year's Festivals. In October the KWLA Executive Board adopted a vision statement for the Festivals. The Board hopes that by actively aligning the Festivals with state and national standards, more students and teachers will have a positive experience and have their achievements recognized. To these ends some positive changes have been made that will move us into the 21st century. Please take a look at where we are going with the new alignment by downloading a copy of the Categories and Rules. If you have comments or feedback, please contact Executive Director of the KWLA Festivals, Jeff Rogers.

Regional Festival held

Students of 40 teachers at 16 different schools participated in the 28th annual Northern Kentucky regional festival held at Northern Kentucky University on March 20. Among these were home schooled students-- who won several ribbons for their projects and whose teacher participated actively with other teachers on the festival committee. We'd welcome more home school teachers in our area to get involved. There were over 1000 registrations, of which about half were in Spanish -- the largest language group. However, French and Latin both had more than 200 registrants, and the number of German participants was more than last year's.
