We need your expertise. The KWLA Conference Committee is now soliciting proposals for the 2010 Fall Conference. Share your ideas, research, successes, and strategies with colleagues from around the state. Proposals for sessions of thirty or fifty-minute sessions and three-hour workshops will be accepted through March 29, 2010. Preference will be given to proposals in the following categories: assessment, best practices, community/advocacy, literacy, literature/research, technology, and units of study.
New for 2010: This year potential presenters are asked to articulate the intended outcomes of their sessions and workshops. What will someone who attends your session or workshop know, or be able to do in his/her classroom, as a result of attending your event?
Some examples to help you frame your "Can-Do Statements:"
- After attending my session, participants will use their understanding of the Novice High level of proficiency to develop an appropriate summative assessment and rubric.
- After attending my session, participants will be able to develop a lesson plan that allows students to use Voki for a presentational speaking assessment.
- After attending my session, participants will be able to use basic knowledge of Second Language Acquisition theory to design classroom activities that reflect this.
We will once again be using a proposal evaluation rubric to select proposals. Decisions by the committee are final.
Presenters of accepted proposals will be notified by May 30, 2010.
