
Dr. Carl Falsgraf, who holds a doctorate in linguistics, is the director of the Center for Applied Second Language Studies (CASLS), a National Foreign Language Resource Center at the University of Oregon. At CASLS, he designed and directed the development of the Standards-based Measurement of Proficiency (STAMP).
Dr. Falsgraf is nationally known for his work on standards-based education and proficiency testing. He also directs the Oregon Chinese K-16 Flagship, a partnership with Portland Public Schools to develop Superior-level speakers of Chinese. He has served as President of the Pacific Northwest Council for Languages (PNCFL) and has served on the Executive Board for the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).

Jo Sanders, immediate Past President of the American Association of Teachers of German, has been teaching German adsffor over 40 years. Although she has 32 years teaching experience at the high school level, she has taught a variety of levels, from pre-school to college. Her teaching has been recognized with the Walt Disney Salute to American Teachers Award, the AATG Outstanding German Educator in the US Award, the Florence Steiner Award (the highest national honor given for leadership in foreign language instruction) and the Bundesverdienstkreuz, given by the Federal Republic of Germany. Her high school just celebrated the thirtieth year of their partner school exchange, which has encompassed over 1000 students. Her current project is founding a German immersion school for grades K - 8 in Anchorage, Alaska.

Patti Lozano has degrees in both Spanish and Music Education. She has taught elementary music and Spanish, junior high music and Spanish and ESL in Houston, Texas since the late '70s, and was honored as Houston's "Outstanding Young Educator" in 1982. Mrs. Lozano has always loved to compose songs that reinforce language concepts in the fun way for her Spanish students. Besides teaching, Mrs. Lozano also has been a regional and national language consultant, as well as an author for several well-known publishers of educational materials. She has published several books, including Music That Teaches Spanish!, More Music That Teaches Spanish!, Leyendas con canciones (a collection of Hispanic legends and original songs), Mighty Mini-Plays ( a selection of humorous, original plays for students to perform in their language classrooms or on stage), Music That Teaches English, Music that Teaches French!, Spanish Grammar Swings! and Get them Talking!
