The following workshops are available FREE during the 2004 KWLA Fall Conference. Pre-Registration is required. Space is limited, so register today!
Workshop 1: Developing World Language Literacy

Participants will explore the practical issues related to the interpretive communication skill of reading in the world language classroom. They will be able to identify reading skills that should be actively taught, develop contexts to facilitate comprehension and develop activities from authentic texts that target novice readers. Participants are asked to bring an authentic text that would be appropriate for beginning (first or second year) language students. Session will be in English with examples in French and Spanish.

Want to prepare for the dance competition at the World Language Festival and incorporate Core Content into your French/German curriculum? You will learn both in this lively workshop -- the dances, On-Demand Writing prompts, and Open Response questions with grading rubrics. Participants will receive CD's and dance instructions.
Workshop 4: ¡Tecnologia y arte!

Grounded in the latest research on effective language pedagogy and second language acquisition, this workshop will focus on how to explore Hispanic art using the Internet to discover online museum collections. Participants will learn how to develop instructional and practical tools for integrating culture and technology to enhance students' language learning.
